Jinju Lantern Festival & Boseong Green Tea Fields 2017Autumn
We start the weekend off with the Jinju Lantern Festival. Based on the banks of the Nam River there is lots to see and do. The lanterns are huge sculptures based on traditional and contemporary themes. There are hands on programs where you can make your own smaller lantern as a souvenir. You can also do this in the evening and float your lantern along the Nam River. In addition to all the lantern festivities, Jinjuseong Fortress is also in the main event area and worth a look.
In the evening when the lanterns are all lit, it really is one of the most stunning things to see in Korea. There are also street performances, lantern parades, and so much more!
After the festival is finished we’ll head to Boseong to stay in our beach side spa hotel, ready to kick off day 2 of this great weekend. Once at the hotel the rest of the evening is yours to do as you please; grab some drinks and head to the beach, enjoy the hotels Noraebang, party in your rooms or grab an early night.
We start off Sunday with a buffet breakfast in the hotel which is included in the package. After breakfast we check-out and make the short journey to the rolling hills of the Boseong Green Tea Fields.
Korea has a long history of planting tea and the green fields of Boseong are among it’s most famous. The plantations have been used as backdrops for many movies and TV shows and provide a beautiful setting for a relaxing Sunday.
Spend the day strolling along the tree lined landscape, which is considered by some to be one of Korea’s most beautiful tree-lined vistas. There are approximately 20 tea fields in the Boseong area, views of the entire plantation can be seen from the Dahyanggak Pavilion. And of course, don’t forget to taste some of the tea in one of the local tea shops, or sample the green tea ice-cream.
